Glossary

This glossary provides definitions for key terms used within the VRBTM platform and in these Standard Operating Procedures.

Audit Log: A comprehensive, chronological record of all activities and access related to a specific file or project within VRBTM. It captures who performed an action, when it occurred, and what was done, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Confidence Rating: A score assigned by the VRBTM transcription engine to individual words or phrases, indicating the system's certainty about the accuracy of the transcription. Users can configure a threshold, below which words are highlighted for manual review.

Disclosure Pack: A complete package of processed information generated by VRBTM, typically delivered as a ZIP file. It includes redacted and/or non-redacted text transcripts (PDF), redacted audio (MP3), summary, insights, and an audit log, designed for official disclosure in regulated, high-trust environments.

Editor (Transcription Editor): The interactive interface within VRBTM where users review, edit, translate, and redact transcribed text while synchronizing changes with the original audio waveform.

Project: A virtual folder or container within VRBTM used to organize and manage audio files and their associated processes — including upload, transcription, translation, editing, redaction, and disclosure pack generation.

Redaction: The process of obscuring or removing sensitive or confidential information from a document or audio file. In VRBTM, this applies to both text and audio, with synchronized redaction ensuring consistency.

SOP (Standard Operating Procedure): A set of step-by-step instructions compiled by an organization to help workers carry out complex routine operations. In this context, it refers to the guidelines for using the VRBTM platform.

Speaker Separation: The ability of the VRBTM transcription engine to identify and differentiate between multiple speakers in an audio recording, attributing dialogue to the correct individual.

Summary and Insights: Auto-generated, editable textual overviews and key takeaways derived from the transcribed audio content, designed to provide a concise understanding of the recording's essence.

Sync (Audio Redaction Sync): A critical feature in VRBTM that ensures any text redactions made in the editor are automatically applied to the corresponding segments of the audio file, maintaining consistency and security.

Template (Output Template): A pre-defined format or layout for the final transcribed output. VRBTM offers standard templates and allows users to create custom templates for branding and specific formatting needs.

Transcription: The process of converting spoken language from an audio recording into written text.

Translation: The automated process of converting transcribed text from one language to another, using integrated machine translation technology powered by AWS Translate. Translations can be manually reviewed and edited within the editor to ensure contextual accuracy.

Waveform (Audio Waveform): A visual representation of the audio signal's amplitude over time, displayed in the VRBTM editor. It allows users to visually navigate and scrub through the audio for precise editing.
